● Maximiliano García Betanzos maintains possibilities of representing Mexico in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
● The state delegation is made up of five gladiators, two coaches and a referee, who travel with the support of the Sports Institute
The Chiapas selection of Luchas Asociadas has prepared intensively to participate in the National Championship of the specialty, which will take place from March 5 to 8 in Guadalajara, Jalisco and where the objective will be to conform to the National Teams of First Force and Youth.
Coach José Candelario Chávez Banda commented that the gladiators are motivated to attend this championship, after almost a year of inactivity in official tournaments, suspended by the COVID 19 pandemic; Likewise, he expressed full confidence that his athletes can finish in the first places of their respective categories.
He informed that the Chiapas delegation will travel with the support of the Sports Institute, and is made up of eight people: four gladiators and a gladiator, as well as two coaches and a referee.
He highlighted that among the list is Eduardo Maximiliano García Betanzos, who will see action in the 125 kilogram division, in the freestyle modality and who continues with the possibilities of fulfilling his dream of representing Mexico in Tokyo 2020. To achieve this, he must get first place in this qualifier, which would give him the pass to attend the World Cup in Bulgaria, where the ticket to the Olympic Games will be defined.
Another of the leaders of the state delegation is Emilio Pérez Alfonso in the 60 kg category, who seeks to return to a national team and continue to put the name of Chiapas and Mexico high.
Also added to this list are: Ulises Sánchez at 130 kg and Alan Matías Ramírez at 64 kg. of the male branch; as well as Yazmín Sánchez Zamorano in the 50 kg. in the female; in addition to José Candelario Chávez Banda and Quintín Gerardo Vázquez López as coaches; and Guillermo Méndez Hernández as referee.
Chávez Banda trusts that the Chiapas athletes can have a good performance in this championship, since it will allow them to be considered to join the National Team and attend the Youth Pan American Games to be held in Cali, Colombia.
